TREASURER’S REPORT:  In Andy’s absence there was no official report. Dan is holding onto 2007 dues payments until a new treasurer is elected.

NEWSLETTER: John reported that we will have a perfect level of advertising if all of last’s year’s advertisers renew. Michael is all over it. The last newsletter costs $1500 (due in part to the attached envelopes), of which $200 is to be recouped from MVCC to cover delivery to apartments.

In the future, the printer wants to be paid by check when the papers are picked up. John said he would pick them up and deliver them to Renee. The deadline for the April issue is March 15.

ANNUAL MEETING. The agenda was discussed. Bill Rosendahl will be attending. He will be scheduled to speak at 7:30 and the consensus was to try to limit him to half an hour. Rob is close to confirming the additional speaker list, all of whom will have five minutes, starting hopefully between 8 and 8:15 PM

The board voted to make a $100 donation to Off. Craig White favorite charity to acknowledge his upcoming retirement.

BALLOT. Rob will be mailing the ballots this weekend. Dan requested that they include a Creating Community questionnaire.

TRAFFIC:  David Feinstein (through Susan) reported that he attended the traffic Committee meeting the prior morning and requested 1. 4 way Stop Sign on Charnock and Purdue, 2. Speed limit signs on Charnock West Between Grand View and Sawtelle  3. Extended "No Parking" on the East side of Inglewood, south of Victoria. These issues were presented to the Mar Vista Traffic Committee.

EXTRAVAGANZA. Roseann reported that she has been remiss and the committee has not yet had a meeting. Rob suggested tying the event to this years 80th anniversary of Mar Vista. (No one knew what event laid claim to the founding of Mar Vista.)

Emergency Preparedness. The topic was discussed briefly to no conclusion. Rob noted that Hilltop’s emergency trailer will be featured in the Jan. 20 ribbon cutting for the newly landscaped median.

CRIME. Rob reported that the break in on Barry occurred in the third house from the corner. The homeowner was hit, kicked and robbed. A woman living in the back house was tied up but somehow called the 911. The board discussed various responses, including hiring a security consultant or security service.

ELECTIONS. We discussed who would be interested in running for office. Dan said he was interested in running for president. Renee said she might run for VP. Rob expressed his desire to focus on neighborhood watch.

The next meeting will be on Feb. 7 at John Houck’s house.
